The Illusionist
BY Matthew E. Powers
Shuffle,
Shuffle,
Spread and
Dribble
The hands of a
master
Performing a
riffle
Manipulation of
cards,
And when his
hand glides,
It comes to the
top
And flips on its
sides.
They say it’s a
miracle,
He knows it’s
not
They stare with
blank faces
Then explodes
like a shot
He looks at them
and smiles
They ask where
it went,
Reality
transformed,
Their
perceptions: bent
Cheating the
impossible
The people
crazed,
Their minds
contorted,
Confused, amazed
So if he looks
in your direction,
Or walks your
way
Ask for wonder
Ask for magic
Ask the
Illusionist
To play.
